The device will come in ‘Prestige Gold’, ‘Aurora Blue’, and ‘Graphite Black’ colors. As the Honor 9i packs in quite a few interesting features, let’s jump straight in.
1. Dual Power of Dual Camera
When dual camera setups are becoming a de facto feature, Honor has gone a step ahead and has packed in two sets of dual cameras both in the front and rear. Yes, in the Honor 9i, you’ll get to lay your hands on four cameras – a feat which Honor boasts as one of the first ones to do. As far as the specs are concerned, the rear shooter is a combination of 16 and a 2-megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash. While the selfie shooter consists of a 13-megapixel camera coupled with a 2-megapixel camera and a soft LED flash. In both the cases, the 2-megapixel camera acts as the depth sensor for Portrait pictures. Other than the popular Bokeh effect in both the rear and the selfie cam, the Honor 9i also boasts of gesture activated selfies and a 120°-wide angle.
2. Stunning FullView Display
The Honor 9i is one of the first Honor phones in India to feature a bezel-less FullView display. It packs in an FHD+ 5.9-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Thanks to the streamlined bezels, Honors claims to have fit in a 5.9-inch phone into a 5.5-inch form factor. Akin to the Galaxy Note8, the Honor 9i also boasts of a screen-to-body ratio of 83%.
3. Force of Huawei Histen Audio
Audiophiles, listen up! The Honor 9i features the 2012 Lab audio system, which goes by the name of Huawei Histen audio system. It’s a set of six algorithms that guarantee a sound quality of the highest order.
4. Premium Look and Feel
At 7.5-mm, the Honor 9i is a sleek phone and weighs roughly 165 grams. It comes with an all-metal body and a 2.5D curved glass, which lends a premium look to the phone.
5. Friendly Gestures
Another plus point is the introduction of OnePlus 5-like gesture shortcuts. All you have to do is draw an S or double tap to take a screenshot.
6. The Power of Android Nougat
It’s the second half of 2017 and most of the companies have started incorporating Android Nougat on their phones and the Honor 9i is also no different. It packs in Android Nougat on top of its in-house EMUI. Having Android Nougat on your phone means that you get a ton of features, such as multi-window, mono audio, better notification controls, and improved safety features.
7. Customizable EMUI Features
As mentioned earlier, the Honor 9i runs on the in-house EMUI version 5.1. The EMUI is similar to MIUI and EUI from the Chinese Android phone manufactures, and feels snappy and feature-rich at the same time.
8. A Decent Battery Life
The Honor 9i is powered by a 3340mAh battery unit, which can deliver roughly two days of standby time. However, when it comes to the charging type, it packs in a normal charger and a micro-USB charging port. Since the Honor 9i is the Indian variant of the Chinese Huawei Maimang 6, it’s worth to be noted that it packs in a USB Type-C port.
9. The Power of Kirin Processor
Lastly, let’s have a quick glance at the hardware specs of the Honor 9i. It packs in the Hisilicon Kirin 695 octa-core processor, which clocks at 2.36 GHz, and a Mali T830 GPU. The Kirin 695 features a 16-nanometer design process and, hence, the Honor 9i can prove to be a power-efficient phone. Other than that, it packs in 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB.
Will you Go For It?
The Huawei Honor 9i is priced at Rs 17,999 and will go on sale on October 14 as a Flipkart exclusive. Given that the Indian market is flooded with smartphones in the sub-Rs 20,000 price bracket, I’d say that the Honor 9i has a lot of competition. Plus, with the introduction of phones such as Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus, it would be interesting to see how the Indian consumers respond to the Honor 9i.
