That’s why we have compiled the list of best OnePlus 7T tips and tricks in this post. If you are familiar with the settings and features of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro, you might know some of these. But if you ask me, why take the chance and miss out on some cool ones, right? So, here we are, with the best tips and tricks for the OnePlus 7T.
1. Enable the Chromatic Reading Mode
One of the newest features of the OnePlus 7T is the Chromatic Reading Mode. Unlike the conventional reading mode that paints the whole screen in a monochromatic hue, this one desaturates the screen slightly. That means the colors are still there, but they are not punchy and are easy on the eyes. Quite naturally, this makes it easy to read. You can use this mode when reading articles or ebooks or when browsing through articles on Chrome. To activate this reading mode, slide open Quick Settings, tap on Reading Mode, and pick Chromatic Mode. However, if you want the Chromatic mode to be the default reading mode, you’d need to set a rule. To do so, long tap on the Reading mode icon to go to Settings. Now, tap on the Turn on Reading Mode option and choose Turn on chromatic effect. At the same time, you can also add apps to this list via the option at the bottom.
2. Utilize the Customization Shortcuts
Another new change in the OnePlus 7T is that all the customization shortcuts now appear on a single page. That means you do not have to go around the Settings page if you want to make a bunch of changes to the accent color, icon shapes or the fingerprint animation style. All these sit under Settings > Customization. So, all you have to do is tap on the appropriate option and make the changes.
3. New Navigation Gestures
Swiping up from the left corner of your screen to go to the Recent Apps is so old school. Or that’s at least what’s OnePlus wants us to believe. Yep, your new phone now comes with a new set of navigation gestures. So, now instead of swiping up from the bottom-right of your screen, you can simply swipe inward from the lower right/left edge of the screen. The same is for the Recent Apps as well – swipe up from the bottom edge and pause. Hello, Android 10! To make these changes, go to Settings > Buttons & Gestures > Navigation bar & gestures and toggle the switch for Navigation gestures. At the same time, enable the switch for ‘Hide the bottom bar’ to make full use of that amazing screen real estate.
4. Lower the Screen Refresh Rate
With the OnePlus 7T, you get to enjoy the exceptionally smooth 90Hz display, and it’s a joy to use. However, if you’re looking for a day-long or more battery life, you might want to ramp it down to the usual 60Hz refresh rate (and switch back whenever you want). I know, the 90Hz screen is one of the primary reasons why you bought this phone, but well, battery is important too. To make this change, head over to Settings > Display > Screen Refresh rate, and switch to 60Hz.
5. Turn Video Enhancer On
To switch it on, go to the Display settings and simply toggle the switch on.
6. Tweak the Smart Display
With the OnePlus 7T, you get a new and intelligent Ambient Display. This one displays information based on times, locations, and events. Apart from that, you can also opt to see your calendar events or the music playing on your phone. Cool, right? To enable it, head over to the Ambient Display settings and toggle the switch for Smart display.
7. Test the All-New Game Space
Another new change is the introduction of Game Space. OnePlus has removed its Gaming mode from hard-to-find Utilities section and converted it into a standalone app. And, it houses links to all the games on your phone. So yeah, now you do not have to browse through the entire app drawer to look for Mario Kart or PUBG. Another advantage of Game Space is that it also shows the time you spend gaming. That is especially useful for people who want to keep a check on their playing time or their overall smartphone usage. Plus, you’ll find other features associated with gaming like Graphics Optimization, the popular Fnatic mode, settings to manage notifications, among others.
8. Enable Block by Keywords
Spam messages have become the norm these days. If you have not registered for DND, the chances are that your inbox must be full of spam mails. The solution? Utilize the Block by keywords option. As suggestive of the name, you can add several keywords and selectively make your inbox look clean. To add these keywords, open OnePlus Messages and hit the three-dot menu at the upper-right corner. Select Setting > Blocking Setting > Block by keywords.
9. Tweak the Zen Mode
With the new OnePlus 7T, you get to play around with the Zen Mode settings. Unlike its older version which locked down the phone for 20 minutes, now you can set the time beforehand. For now, the phone lets you choose between 20 minutes and 60 minutes. And the best thing is that you can do the changes right from the welcome screen. Simply tap on the time at the bottom, and pick the one that suits your requirement. Now, leave your phone aside and enter your zen.
