In reality, not all notifications are created equally. You might want to run to your handset if you’ve been waiting for an important call or your phone’s battery is low, but you might not care so much if it’s nothing more than an email or text message. Unfortunately, most Android devices give the same basic Notification blink for most types of alerts. Luckily, there are easy ways to take control of LED notifications, whether you wish to silence your LED notifications completely, or even assign color codes to the LED light so you actually know what’s going on before you turn your display on. So how do you go about making more out of your LED notifications experience? A quick Google Play search will reveal a plethora of apps that can get the job done, including Light Flow and Light Manager. The problem with many of these solutions is that they often require root access of the phone in order to work. If you are looking for an easier, root-free solution, you’ll certainly want to check out LED Blinker Notifications app! Not only does this app work without root but it’s interface is very simple to use too. We also show you how to completely disable these LED alerts in case they’re being a nuisance.

Getting Started

Before grabbing the LED Blinker Notifications app, you’ll need to ensure that you have a phone that supports multi-color LED lights. If you have a newer device from Samsung, HTC, Motorola or LG then you’re probably covered. If your device doesn’t support multiple colors? The only thing this app will be good for is shutting off LED notifications completely. Okay, so now that you know what you’re up against, its time to head over to Google Play and download the LED Blinker Lite app. Although LED Blinker Lite includes support for quite a few apps, if you want or need more, you might want to check out the pro version. The pro app costs $2.17 in the Play Store and works with just about any app imaginable.

Customizing Colors with LED Blinker Lite

Once you start the app, you should immediately be greeted by a simple interface that is divided into different tabbed sections. The only section that will work with the Lite version is the Free tab. To access other tabs you will need to pony up for the paid version. Let’s start by showing you how to turn on the LED notification for specific apps and how to set it to different colors. Step 1: First, go through the list and hit the LED On button to turn on LED Notification functionality, or LED Off to disable it. Step 2: Next, choose a color. There are several predefined colors, or you can even create a user defined color if your phone supports it. Step 3: If you are okay with the default blink rate for your device, that’s it – you’re done. Want to change it? Tap on the top right button with the three dots (as circled in the screenshot below) and then choose settings. Step 4: Scroll down through the settings until you reach the Blink Rate option underneath the Extended section. Tap it and you will be given a prompt that will allow you to set the rate in seconds or even milliseconds. That’s it! Everything should now be set up and ready to go. Looking to turn off LED Notifications temporarily or even permanently? Keep reading.

How to Disable LED Notifications

While customized LED Notifications can be very helpful, what if there are times when you simply want to turn off the functionality? No problem. LED Blinker has an option that allows you to define a time period where the notifications will be shut off. This is ideal for times when you are sleeping or simply don’t want to be disturbed. Step 1: Tap on the top right button with the three dots (as circled in the screenshot below) and then choose settings. Step 2: Scroll down through the list until you come to the Other section. Click on the Disable LED Blinker option and a new prompt will appear. Step 3: In the prompt, define the hours that you wish to disable the LED Notifications feature. Cool Tip: Want to shut down LED Notifications permanently? While in Settings, go to the General Section and hit the LED Blinker Activated button to uncheck it. This should take precedence over your default LED settings.
