However, since we all do things a bit differently, 3D Touch might actually require too hard of a press for some and maybe too light of a press for others. Fortunately, Apple included options to customize the way its Force Touch successor responds to you personally, so you can adjust it to suit your preference.
Adjusting 3D Touch
Customizing the way 3D Touch reacts to your input can be done in just a few steps. The options are located in your iPhone’s Settings app. First tap Settings, then scroll to choose General. After that, select Accessibility and lastly, 3D Touch. Now you’re in the new 3D Touch settings. First and foremost, if for whatever reason you don’t like 3D Touch or find it’s getting in the way of your normal usage, you can actually turn it off entirely. Just tap the switch to turn it off, and thereon your iPhone will not recognize or act upon extra force exerted when touching the display. If you want to adjust 3D Touch sensitivity, use the slider. By default, it’s set to medium. If you slide it to the left for light sensitivity, it will require less pressure from your finger to trigger a 3D Touch action like Peek or Pop. On the flip side, sliding over to firm sensitivity means you’ll have to press harder to activate 3D Touch. In my experience, light sensitivity works best with me. I found that I was actually a bit annoyed with how hard 3D Touch required me to press when I first received my iPhone 6s in the mail, so the setting remains on Light. Tip: Be sure to use the 3D Touch Sensitivity Test at the bottom to see which option is best for you. Firmly press on the sample image Apple provides to Peek and Pop. If you wish to adjust some other areas of your touch screen, be sure to head back to the Accesssibility settings and play around with certain options like AssistiveTouch or Touch Accommodations. These can dramatically help those who find touch screen use difficult. The above article may contain affiliate links which help support Guiding Tech.
