So, if you want to kick-start the month of May with a bang, here are some new Android apps that you must get. As the post is going to be a lengthy one, let’s get started, shall we?
1. Snap Search: Incognito Browser & Secure Search
Do you find it cumbersome to open Chrome’s incognito mode every time you want to search for something that you don’t want Chrome to remember? What do you do when you have to search something specifically on YouTube but you do not want related content on your timeline? Normally, you’d have to take a pretty long route. But not anymore with Snap Search in the picture. This simple app has an always-on incognito mode. And the best thing is that the search engine is not just reserved for Google alone. It has a horde of search engines such as Yahoo, Duck Duck Go, Baidu, etc. Moreover, you can also search in incognito mode on YouTube and IMDb, among others. Overall, it has more than 40 search engines. Cool, right? The app is super simple to use. You need to select the search engine from the lists. What’s more, Snap Search also lets you set search engines as your favorite. The app also bundles a VPN service and has quite a few locations. Apart from that, there’s a built-in ad blocker, tracker blocker, and also supports reader mode. Download Snap Search
2. Calculator Lock
What if you could hide some of your pictures and documents under a simple-looking app? Sounds exciting, right? Well, the Calculator Lock is exactly that. If you have some files to hide and don’t want to store them under a conventional locking app, the Calculator app is the one for you. And the best thing is that it appears to be a simple calculator at first glance. From photos to videos and documents, it gives you plenty of options. To hide the files, click on a tile and select the filers from the gallery. Having done that, tap on the Back to calculator option and you will have a humble calculator staring at you. To enter the vault again, enter your password on the calculator and press equal. Impressive, right? However, remember to add or change the password before you lock the vault. 3. Volume Styles
Volume Styles is the perfect app for phone customization lovers. As its name implies, it brings home several cool volume bar designs to your Android smartphone. From waves to cool neon ones and even custom-ROM styled designs, it offers plenty of choices. I particularly liked the wave transition, and that’s what I have on my phone right now. But I would love to try out the RGB colored ones, as soon as I earn some credit from the Google Opinion Rewards app. Volume Styles offers various customization options; note that some of the options are hidden behind a paywall. If you have an OnePlus phone, the system might kill the app, thanks to the aggressive battery optimization. So, you will have to take care of that. Other then that, the app is pretty simple to use and the interface is clean and clutter-free. Moreover, there are no pop-up ads. If you ask me, this app is a welcome break from the otherwise plain volume controller on my Samsung Galaxy S20. And the fact that the controls appear on the sides is the cherry on top. 4. Dolby On
If you often record audio natively on your phone, you must know how the audio quality can be spoiled by background noise. As you may already know, it’s quite a task to remove background noise, especially if you do not have access to tools like Sony Vegas or Adobe Audition. But at the end of the day, these tools are more suited for a professional video editor. So, if you are looking for a phone app for the job, say hello to Dolby On. Dolby On automatically reduces background noise significantly. When you start a recording, the app listens for the background noise for the first three minutes and then removes them when you finish recording. Yeah, you read that right. The best part is that Dolby On works best when recording videos and audios. Though the results are decent when you record via the phone’s built-in mic, you will get the best result if you use your headphone’s mic. Download Dolby On
5. Facebook Gaming
If you still have the Facebook app on your phone and have time to kill, you should certainly try out the Facebook Gaming app. It lets you play games and watch others playing games from around the world. And well, you can also join others to form a game group. Another advantage is that you do not have to install other games on your phone. Instead, you can try out the puzzles and other memory games to pass the time. Or, if you are not in a mood for that, you can always sit back and watch a PUBG game in action. Apart from that, Facebook gaming also gives you the option to follow gamers and streamers. 6. Document Scanner
Next on our list is the Document Scanner by TopTapStudio. It’s quite a simple app and if you do not have apps like Microsoft Office Lens and Adobe Scan on your Android, you can give this app a try. The rules are pretty straightforward. Tap on the camera icon on the landing page to grab an image. Once done, the app will give you the option to adjust the borders of the layout manually. On the upside, the scans are pretty great. There’s no over-saturation and the focus is pretty-much spot-on. Moreover, there are a couple of filters for you to try. The Document Scanner app also bundles OCR. Once you have scanned a doc, just hit the OCR button at the bottom-left corner and the extracted text will be laid out for you. The app is pretty basic, and if you use a document scanner sparingly, this one seems to be a good start. Download Document Scanner
7. Clyma Weather
Last but not least, we have a weather app. Aptly named Clyma, this one is for you if you are bored with the stock app on your smartphone. It includes a “feels like” temperature, minimum and maximum temperatures for the day, precipitation, humidity, cloud cover, and so many other little details. Furthermore, it’s well-designed and comes with a clean interface (save for the small banner ad at the bottom). Best of all, it includes a detailed 7-day forecast. You can also start adding additional towns and cities if you want to start monitoring the weather of the said places. And since the search is powered by Google, the chances are that you will find them easily Clyma also offers a couple of widgets, but they are locked behind a paywall. Download Clyma Weather
